D-SIG, the wireless notificaton System!
D-SIG is one of a family of products built around a microprocessor based POCSAG signaling system coupled with a digital transceiver originally developed for our AirCall and ParentFinder on-site paging systems. The on-site systems use a keypad, or keyboard as applicable to input the message to be sent.
D-SIG does not use a manual input. Rather, D-SIG is activated by an external relay that is generally connected to a remote sensor. D-SIG can be activated by most any normally open or normally closed contact. In the inactive state, D-SIG awaits activation of the sensor. When the condition changes from normally open to closed, or vice versa, the contact closure causes a preset address code and message to be sent to a companion receiver, or receivers as applicable.
The D-SIG electronic circuitry operates from either 110 volts AC or 12 volts DC as desired by the user. All components are housed in a Marine 5 weatherproof fiberglass enclosure, shown above, is suitable for indoor or outdoor use. Measurements are 12 x 12 x 4 inches. This device is well suited for connection to door sensors in retail stores, hospitals, etc. as well as outdoor use in connection with traffic monitors, security access etc. The complete assembly, weighing less than five pounds, can be mounted with U-Bolts, metal clamps, or bolted directly to the host structure. The price of the complete unit including FCC type accepted 2 watt UHF transceiver and quarter wave antenna is $495.00, F.O.B. Birmingham, AL. To order, specify D-SIG. Please indicate the type of sensors used or contact techsupport@falconwireless.net. If possible, send a sample of your sensor output device. This will allow us to test the complete system before shipping.

To provide maximum flexibility and allow for future expansion, a standard three-quarter inch mount is installed on the top of the D-SIG cabinet. This mount is wired to the internal transceiver and allows connection of the standard antenna, a quarter wave stainless steel radiator approximately 8 inches high. This standard antenna provides a low profile mechanically secure configuration that is virtually impervious to weather conditions.
Optionally available is a 5 dB omni-directional antenna capable in increasing the efficiency, known as Effective Radiated Power, to approximately four times that of the standard antenna. The increased capability is a result of increasing the capture area of the antenna from approximately eight inches to thirty inches. Both antennas have a flexible spring at the bottom to reduce accidentally damage resulting bending of the antenna. In terms of coverage, the high gain 5 dB antenna will have an effective range of up to one mile or more depending on terrain, intervening obstacles, and electromagnetic interference. The high gain antenna adds $25 to the price of the basic D-SIG unit. To order this antenna upgrade, specify option D-SIG-5.

Additional coverage is available by utilizing external, rather than cabinet mounted antennas. Two models are available an eight foot fiberglass co-linear omni-directional gain model for circular coverage and a smaller unidirectional gain antenna to provider coverage primarily in a forward direction. Both are supplied with a 100-foot cable kit, connectors, and C clamps for attachment to a metal pipe between 1-1/2 and 2-1/2 inches O.D. The price for either model is $300.00. The omni-directional vertical model and the horizontal unidirectional yagi model are shown at the left. The omni-directional model has a power gain factor of 4X and the unidirectional gain model has a gain factor of 10X. To order, specify D-SIG-O for the omni-directional model, or D-SIG-Y for the unidirectional model. Although rarely required, a 10X omni-directional gain model is optionally available for $900.00. In terms of range, the 4X power gain model can provide coverage for three miles and the 10X power gain model can provide coverage for five miles or more depending on terrain, electromagnetic interference, and installation location. If the external antennas are required, the standard NMO mount cabinet connector is replaced with and female UHF connector for use with standard transmission cable.

Three types of receivers are available. The least expensive is a simple alert notification model capable of alerting either by audible tone or vibration. The user has the option of selection the desired mode. This is our least expensive model priced at $89. To order this receiver, specify D-SIG-T. If you wish, you can upgrade the capability of this receiver by adding the ability of receive a numeric message of up to 15 digits. This is a useful feature when there is more than one D-SIG sending unit since each unit is capable to sending a selective alert signal as well as a numeric message, alphanumeric text message, or a combination of all three. The numeric code could indicate the location of the sending terminal. The D-SIG-N pager is priced at $99. The D-SIG-A receiver, priced at $129 can display a text message sent from the D-SIG originating terminal.
D-SIG requires an FCC operating license. If the antenna is not mounted more than 20' above ground, the system can be operated under a national itinerant license held by Falcon Wireless. Our customers are granted use of this license at no charge. Optionally, you have the option of applying for your own license. This would be necessary for antenna structures greater than 20' in height or if a power level of more than 2 watts is desired. For additional information on FCC licensing, visit www.fcc.gov.
